CrossFit Douglasville Owner & Coach/I AM ADAPTIVE Athlete/Motivator

Passions: CrossFit & proving people wrong

Philosophy: “The best thing someone can do is to tell me I can NOT do something, I live to prove them wrong!”

Rocky is a role model with his "no excuses" attitude as an adaptive athlete, box owner and coach. Rocky’s grandfather nicknamed him after his hero Rocky Marciano because his grandson fought like a champ from the day he was born. Rocky takes pride in overcoming physical and mental obstacles, including addiction, weight gain, and injuries. He was told he would never lift again after busting his back in 1997, but once again, he proved people wrong.

Rocky is an adaptive athlete, but says, “I also want to be seen as just an athlete.  Even though I have to modify some of the technique, I don’t want to modify the task.” He recently taught himself how to clean and jerk without using his strap and lives to motivate and encourage others.

His greatest accomplishment is opening his box CrossFit Douglasvile with his wife in 2012 and seeing their athletes accomplish things they never thought possible. After putting his own training on hold to focus most of his en3rgy on CrossFit Douglasvile, Rocky is ready for his comeback to competitions, cheered on by his athletes. His longterm goals are to obtain his USAW weightlifting certification, learn from other experts in the industry, and travel with his wife and pups (Burpee and Tabata) and continue to motivate others.

3 QUESTIONS with ROCKY:

What 3 words best describe you?

Determined

Focused

Compassionate

I know you asked for only 3, but many would call me crazy as well!

What do you love best about your sport?

It finds my weaknesses, keeps me on my toes! I love the camaraderie. Everyone pushing and encouraging each other. I really keeps me going! I fell in love with the sport and later I met my wife though CrossFit.  We were married in true CrossFit fashion on 3-21/2013. 3-2-1…married!

What's your go to meal pre & post competition, and your guilty pleasure?

Pre- I keep it clean, chicken, rice and veggies and my GR3EN!

Post- Pizza and ice cream and maybe some GR3EN mixed with an adult beverage.

Guilty Pleasure- Ice cream...did I mention ice cream?!!!
